General Questions

How do the murder mystery games work?

Our games are interactive experiences where each player takes on a character and receives clues leading up to the big reveal. After purchasing a game, every participant will receive four emails over several days, containing character details, secrets, clues, and more information to uncover the mystery. This way the fun will already start weeks before you actually gather to solve the mystery!

On the game day, you and your guests will gather to discuss clues, reveal hidden motives, and ultimately unmask the murderer! No scripts—just immersive role-playing and deduction.

How many players do I need?

Each game has a set number of roles. Check the game description to ensure you have the right number of players.

Do I need a host, or can I play too?

You don’t need a host! Everyone is assigned a character, including you. By immersing yourself in your character and exchanging information with other characters, the mystery will slowly unravel itself.

If you would like to host instead of play, you can select this option during checkout. As a host, you will receive the general information about the murder and the characters, but will not be assigned a character to play.

How long does a game last?

The games usually take between 2 and 5 hours to play.

How long a game lasts exactly depends entirely on how engaged your group is. How immersed is everyone in their character? Do you explore side plots and character relationships? Do people reveal their secrets quickly or hold on to them tightly? All of these things will decide how long the game takes.

Are the games age-restricted?

Our murder mystery games are not suitable for children. Due to the difficulty and contents of the games, they are best suited for players aged 16 and up. While the games don’t contain graphic content, they may feature mature themes such as violence, gambling, substance abuse, sex, and strong language, which may not be suitable for younger audiences.

Ordering and Access

How does the ordering process work?

When you purchase a game, you’ll fill out a form with:
Your game date (when you plan to play)
Email addresses for all players

Once your order is confirmed, our system automatically schedules and sends the pre-game emails to each player. These emails contain their character background, secrets, and key information for the game.

How do I receive my game after purchase?

During checkout, you’ll enter the email addresses of all players and the date of your game. Each participant will then receive four custom emails distributed across the days leading up to the game, containing their character background, secrets, and key information for the game.

Can I buy a game as a gift?

Yes! Just enter the recipient’s details at checkout, and they’ll receive the game emails.

Payment & Policies

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept payments through all major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna, and various European payment methods, including Bancontact, EPS, iDeal, and Przelewy24 (P24). If you’re encountering problems during payment, feel free to reach out to us and we’ll do our best to assist you.

Do you offer refunds?

Since our games are digital products, we don’t offer refunds once emails have been sent. However, it is possible to cancel your order within 24 hours of placing it.

Customization & Support

Can I change the date of my game after purchase?

Yes! If you need to reschedule, contact us at info@andthentherewereclues.com, and we’ll adjust your email schedule.

What if a player drops out?

If a player can’t make it, their role can be reassigned or played by someone else. Please contact us at info@andthentherewereclues.com for guidance.

Do you offer custom murder mystery games?

At the moment, we only offer pre-made games, but we may add custom options in the future! Sign up for our newsletter to stay up-to-date!
